The Blues is one of the most popular musical styles people play on the guitar. The great thing is, that once you've got the basics, you can keep adding things as you get more experienced.
The form always stays the same.
Here is a YOUTUBE link to one of my favourite Blues guitarists (and singers)  :Buddy Guy. I've seen him play live once in my hometown Hamburg and it was just fantastic!!

There is an endless list of blues guitarists. Here are some more favourites of mine if you want to check them out: Albert King, B.B. King, Albert Collins, Howlin Wolf and Bessie Smith.

Ok than. Keep playing and listening. Looking forward to next week.

Tuning a guitar is not easy and takes a while to learn. Chances are you will probably learn to play a tune before learning how to tune. Bee patient! You'll get there.
Pitch pipes are simple to use and not expensive.
Otherwise here is a link to a free online guitar tuner.

One other thing that I can't say loud enough:
LISTEN to music as well as practice. With listening I don't mean music as background noise but as something that touches you and makes you want to SING and DANCE.
Not everybody likes the same thing, but I'd like to encourage you to try different kinds of music.
Here are links to some of the pieces we've listened to in the guitar lessons.
"Bamboleo" by the Gypsy Kings
"Hit the Road Jack" by Ray Charles.
"Tico, Tico" played in quiet an incredible way
"Peter Gun Theme"
"Let it Go" played on solo guitar

Hi again.
This is video Nr.2. I am showing you how to play melodies using just two fingers, one in each hand.
This is both a great exercise for your fingers AND your ears!!
If you can do this you have a way into making music with your guitar and there should be nothing stopping you to go on and on...

YOUTUBE CHANEL and lesson 1

Hi everybody.
I am creating this blog to help you remember what we went over in the lessons.
Practising is important! Try to play a bit every day even if it just 5 min.
Listen to music also. Different kinds of music. Music can be fast, slow, gentle, rowdy, tuneful, dissonant, angry, kind etc. Basically it can be all of those things we feel and experience.
Some of you might not be able to watch the videos here (as far as I know you need the newest version of adobe flash player).
BUT: I have created a Youtube channel where you can watch all the videos. It is called "learning guitar at sea mills". If you type that into the Youtube search engine, it will come up.
Or click the link below

Now, what would be great if I could see lots of hits on those!!
You'll probably see links to other people teaching guitar as well. Check them out too if you got time.
It all adds to your knowledge and there is always many ways to look at the same thing.

Explore and have fun!
